Island State Scholarship
The Island State Credit Union has been an integral part of the Tasmanian community for more than 40 years, and its membership represents a large percentage of the Tasmanian population. Understanding and creating sustainability is one of the values of islandstate - sustainability for Tasmania's leading financial organisation, as well as for this island state. We understand our sense of community and seek to contribute to the well-being of Tasmania. This is why we have sponsored two scholarships in island studies at the University of Tasmania to help us understand the place where we live, to understand the challenges facing Tasmania, and to add to the body of knowledge which will help keep Tasmania uniquely Tasmanian. Because we are unique, both as a business and as an island community, islandstate has chosen the Tasmanian deciduous beech (Nothofagus gunnii) – commonly known as fagus – as our new emblem.
