Recommendations
-
Bury all toilet waste in the ground and cover over
with soil – ‘leave no trace’.
-
If possible, bury toilet waste in drier (better drained)
soils than in wet or organic soils.
-
Use toilet paper (preferably unbleached toilet paper)
in preference to any other paper product (including facial tissues). Tampons
should be carried out and not buried on site.
-
Urinating in the same place as defaecating will accelerate
the decay of toilet paper.
