Initial Recommendations
  1. Bury all toilet waste in the ground and cover over with soil – ‘leave no trace’.
  2. If possible, bury toilet waste in drier (better drained) soils than in wet or organic soils.
  3. Use toilet paper (preferably unbleached toilet paper) in preference to any other paper product (including facial tissues). Tampons should be carried out and not buried on site.
  4. Urinating in the same place as defaecating will accelerate the decay of toilet paper.
